Confused State
Acrylic on Canvas
(40 x 40 x 1.5cm)
Recently wondered if a more structured approach creating blocks of different colours and textures would work for me. Started by smearing grey onto a white canvas with a toilet roll tube followed by
blocks of yellow and light blue with an old credit card
However, I soon realised I was too restricted and didn’t feel I was expressing my true feelings. Therefore, mid painting, I went back to my recognised erratic approach going for bright, bold, random and energetic strokes of orange and dark blue with a spatula. Finally, white was added using a kitchen bottle cleansing brush.
As for what I would end up with I had no idea as both contrasting approaches were now on the canvas , a hybrid or at worst a hodge podge perhaps.
However, on reflection, I saw several recognisable shapes and figures despite my ‘Confused State’ that I decided was a highly relevant title. I’ll leave you to come up with your own interpretation. After all, that’s what a "random" is all about isn’t it.
